Our Story
In 2003, seven local garden enthusiasts completed LSU Extension Service training to became the first Master Gardeners in Sabine Parish. They embarked on their mission with little awareness of the thousands of hours they, and those who joined the program later, would eventually donate to the public to educate and inspire gardeners throughout the region. As the program blossomed, Sabine Parish Master Gardeners became a valued asset by providing horticulture assistance to school and youth 4H programs, enhancing and funding community projects, and providing educational seminars for the general public.
Master Gardener volunteers are never stagnant and today, as our annual seminar continues to draw visitors from multiple states, we are examining even more ways to enrich, through sharing knowledge and support, as we champion the number one hobby in America-gardening.
